HED was established in 2021 as a community-based environmental group in Segera Ward. However, due to growing community needs and a broader vision, we realized that focusing only on Segera was not enough. The demand for environmental conservation extended beyond Segera and Handeni to the whole of Tanzania. This prompted us to formally register as an NGO, leading to our official registration on May 2, 2023, with registration number 00NGO/R/4745. For the health and environment initiatives. Since registration, the organization has undertaken various development activities, mainly supported by member contributions. It has also participated in NGO forums at district, regional, and national levels. 2024 HED conducted an environmental conservation campaign in Kwamatuku and Sindeni Wards in Handeni, Tanga, which included education on environmental conservation, formation of school environmental clubs, and planting fruit, timber, and shade trees. The project was successful and left a positive impact. The school clubs continue to function under the guidance of environmental teacher patrons.
